Man arrested following aggravated burglaries

A man has been arrested following a series of incidents in the Swan Hill area, Victoria Police say.

Police observed a vehicle travelling with no headlights along Campbell Street about 10.50pm last night (16 July) before the driver stopped in the middle of the road and fled the car on foot.

A short time later, the man was allegedly involved in an aggravated burglary at a residence on Coronation Avenue.

The man fled the home with the victim’s car keys and took off in his ute, hitting a parked vehicle as he left.

The ute was observed allegedly driving erratically along McCallum Street and across the Victorian border into New South Wales.

It is believed the ute rolled, with the man fleeing and allegedly becoming involved in a second aggravated burglary.

He was disrupted by the occupants of the property, who restrained him until New South Wales Police arrived.

The 25-year-old man from Speewa, New South Wales was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash and is expected to be interviewed at a later time.

No one else was injured during the incidents.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
