Police have charged a man with multiple theft offences after they found over $150,000 worth of stolen items in a truck in Sydney's south-west yesterday.
About 9.40am (7 February 2025), officers attached to Fairfield City Police Area Command were patrolling on Cabramatta Road West, Cabramatta, when they located a truck stopped on the street.
Initial inquiries revealed the truck was reported stolen.
Police spoke to a 32-year-old man who was sitting at the driver's sit before they searched the vehicle.
Following inquiries, officers located and seized $150,000 worth of stolen lighting kits, housebreaking tools, and 3.9g of methylamphetamine.
Police will allege the lighting kits were stolen from a business in Artarmon, sometime between Sunday (19 January 2025) and Monday (20 January 2025).
The man was arrested and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with:
- Two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (motor vehicle)
- Two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
- Armed with intent commit indictable offence
- Supply prohibited drug more than small and less than or equal to indictable quantity
- Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
- Use class A vehicle with unauthorised number plate affixed
- Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner
- Receive/dispose stolen property – minor indictable offence more than $5000
- Possess housebreaking implements
- Custody of knife in public place, and
- Breach of bail
He was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Saturday 8 February 2025).
