A man will face court charged following an investigation into an alleged aggravated break and enter in Armidale last month.
About 3am on Sunday 7 July 2024, four men – armed with a pistol and a knife – forced entry into a home on Rockdale Road, Armidale.
One man grabbed the occupant of the home – a 56-year-old woman – and held his hand over her mouth and threatened her with the knife demanding cash.
The woman handed over money and the group fled the location.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, about 11am yesterday (Monday 5 August 2024), police executed a search warrant at a home on Golgotha Street, Armidale, and arrested a 29-year-old man.
Police located and seized a pistol, ammunition, prohibited weapons including a flick knife and knuckle dusters, methylamphetamine, cannabis, GBH, firearm parts, and property believed to have been stolen.
The man was taken to Armidale Police Station and charged with;
- Special aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence-weapon
- Possess unauthorised pistol (two counts)
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (two counts)
- Possess prohibited drug (three counts), and
- Possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority.
He was refused bail and appeared at Tamworth Local Court today (Tuesday 6 August 2024), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at Armidale Local Court on Wednesday 9 October 2024.
