A man will face court over possessing a number of unauthorised firearms in state's west.
About 10.45am today (Wednesday 26 February 2025), police were called to a home on Seymour Street, Bathurst, following reports of a dispute.
On arrival, officers attached to Chifley Police District attended the house for a welfare check and seized a number of items including firearms. These have been taken for further examination.
Following inquiries, police arrested a 20-year-old man on the same street.
He was taken to Bathurst Police Station where he was charged with nine offences,
- Manufacture pistol without licence/permit
- Possess more than three unregistered firearms, one is prohibited/pistol
- Possess unauthorised firearm
- Possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit (four counts)
- Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and
- Deal in or attempt to deal in protected animal.
He was refused bail to appear at Bathurst Local Court today (Thursday 27 February 2025).
