Man Charged After Foot Chase in Operation Mongoose

A man has been charged with alleged property related offences following a foot pursuit in Orange yesterday.

Just after 4pm yesterday (Monday 20 January 2025), officers attached to Proactive Crime Team Central West attempted to speak with a man at a sports field on Woodward Street, Orange, who was allegedly wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Following a foot pursuit, the 21-year-old man was arrested.

During a search of the man, officer allegedly located and seized prohibited drugs and items believed to be stolen.

He was taken to Orange Police Station, where he was charged with:

  • enter building/land with intent commit indictable offence,
  • goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle) – two counts,
  • custody of knife in public place,
  • possess/attempt to, prescribed restricted substance,
  • possess prohibited drug.

An outstanding warrant was executed for domestic violence and traffic related offences.

He was refused bail to appear before Orange Local Court today (Tuesday 21 January 2025).
