Man Charged After Gunnedah Break-In Investigation

Police charge man following investigation into a break-in near Gunnedah last year.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District received reports of a break-in at a property on Goolhi Road, Mary's Mount, about 22km west of Gunnedah, between Tuesday 7 November 2023 and Sunday 12 November 2023.

Police were told multiple personal belongings were allegedly stolen including, binoculars, jewellery, a stamp collection, scales, personal documentation, cigarettes, and four firearms.

About 8.30pm on Friday 17 November 2023, police were patrolling High Street, Gunnedah when checks revealed a red Toyota Echo parked on the side of the road displayed the incorrect number plates.

Police seized the vehicle and during a search they located ammunition, and multiple personal items from the earlier break-in.

Following extensive inquiries, about 9.15am yesterday (Tuesday 6 August 2024), police attended a home on Herbert Street, Gunnedah, and arrested a 30-year-old man.

He was taken to Gunnedah Police Station and charged with break and enter house steal value under $60,000, knowingly deal with proceeds of crime, supply unregistered firearm-not pistol/prohibited firearm, and supply, give ammunition to person not authorised.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Gunnedah Local Court yesterday (Tuesday 6 August 2024), where he was formally refused bail to reappear at the same court today (Wednesday 7 August 2023).

Inquiries are continuing.
