Man Charged After Melbourne North-west Pursuit

Police have charged a man after tracking an erratic vehicle across Melbourne's north-west yesterday.

It is alleged the driver of a red Ford Falcon was driving erratically and at speed in the Winchelsea, Lovely Banks and Geelong areas on Friday, 14 January about 12:20pm.

The Ford was successfully stop sticked in Werribee and subsequently came to a stop on Wedge Street North in Werribee about 1.30pm.

The driver and sole occupant, a 27-year-old Werribee man, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital.

The Werribee man has since been charged with:

• aggravated reckless exposure of police officer to risk by driving (4)

• dangerous driving whilst pursued

• reckless conduct endanger life

• damage to emergency service vehicle by reckless driving

• posses cannabis

• posses controlled weapon

• drive speed dangerous

• exceed speed limit

• unregistered motor vehicle

• drive whilst disqualified

• refuse PBT

• fail to stop on police direction

• affix false registration plates

• enter intersection against the red

• fail to render assistance after a collision

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Geelong Magistrates' Court on Monday 17 February.

No one was injured during the incident.
