Man Charged After Pursuit by Traffic Patrol

A man will face court today charged following a pursuit in Sydney's inner west overnight.

Just after midnight (Monday 5 August 2024), officers attached to Burwood Traffic and Highway Patrol were patrolling the Rhodes area, when they attempted to stop a sedan allegedly driving in a dangerous manner on Concord Road.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

The pursuit travelled along Homebush Bay Drive before the vehicle stopped on Rod Laver Drive, Sydney Olympic Park.

Following a foot pursuit, two men were arrested nearby.

The driver - a 25-year-old man - was subject to roadside testing, which allegedly returned with a positive result.

He was taken to Burwood Police Station and charged with police pursuit - not stop - drive at speed and drive while licence cancelled.

He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court today (Monday 5 August 2024).

The passenger, a 23-year-old man, was released pending further inquiries.
