A man has been charged following a serious three-vehicle crash in the state's Central West last week.
About 6.15pm on Friday (2 August 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a three-vehicle crash along the Mitchel Highway, about 22km west of Dubbo.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attended and treated the drivers and sole occupants of a Mitsubishi Triton – a 77-year-old man – and a Subaru Tribeca – a 30-year-old woman – at the scene before they were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital.
The woman remains in Dubbo Base Hospital in a stable condition and the man was airlifted to Westmead Hospital, Sydney, in a serious but stable condition.
Officers from Orana Mid-Western Police District established a crime scene, and specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit commenced an investigation into the crash.
The driver – a man aged 33 - and only occupant of a Toyota Landcruiser was uninjured. He was subjected to a roadside breath test allegedly returning a positive result.
He was arrested a taken to Narromine Police Station for secondary breath analysis which returned an alleged reading of 0.106.
The man was charged with drive with middle range PCA, and his licence was suspended.
He was given conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday 25 September 2024.
