Man Charged After Stolen Plaque Found in Newcastle

A man will appear before court charged after a stolen plaque was allegedly located in his vehicle at Newcastle yesterday.

About 10.15am yesterday (Tuesday 1 April 2025), officers attended Horseshoe Beach Road following a report about allegedly stolen property in a vehicle.

At the scene, officers attached to Newcastle City Police District commenced a search of a campervan.

During the search, officers allegedly located and seized a small amount of cannabis, and a solid brass plaque believed to be the coat of arms of the City of Newcastle.

A 43-year-old man was issued a court attendance notice for goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, and possess prohibited drug.

He will appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 24 April 2024.
