Man Charged After Tamworth House Fire Injury

A man will face court charged after a home was deliberately lit in the state's northeast last month.

Just after 11pm on Friday 26 July 2024, emergency services were called to a home on Kenny Drive, Tamworth, following reports of a house well alight.

Fire and Rescue NSW attended the scene and extinguished the fire.

A 25-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for burns to his arm and leg and was taken to Tamworth Hospital before he was airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital for further treatment and has since been released.

Following inquiries, about 10am today Tuesday (27 August 2024), a 25-year-old man attended Tamworth Police Station and was arrested.

He was charged with damage property by fire/exp over $ 5000 and under $15000.

The man was given conditional bail to appear at Tamworth Local Court on Monday 30 September 2024.
