A man has been charged following a crash at Brookvale earlier today.
About 7.40am (Tuesday 26 July 2022), police attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attempted to stop a vehicle travelling along Shackel Road; however, the vehicle failed to stop and drove from the scene.
A pursuit was initiated but was terminated due to safety concerns.
A short time later, the vehicle was involved in a crash with another car at the intersection of Pittwater and Winbourne roads.
It's alleged the driver ran from the car and attempted to flee; however, he was stopped by four bystanders before police arrived.
The 31-year-old man was taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with:
- Disobey no right turn sign-motor vehicle
- Not keep left of dividing line
- Not stop at stop line at red light
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Cause bodily harm by misconduct, in charge of m/v
- Learner not accompanied by driver/police officer/tester
- Learner driver not display "L" plates as prescribed
- Not give particulars to police
The female driver of the second vehicle was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to North Shore Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The man was bail refused and is set to appear before Manly Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 27 July 2022).
