A man has been charged over an alleged child abuse offences in the state's south.
On Thursday (30 January 2025), officers attached to State Crime Command's Child Abuse Squad commenced an investigation following reports of child abuse material being posted online.
It is alleged a video of a man performing a sexual act in front of a child was posted on a public website on Monday 27 January 2025.
Following inquiries, about 12.30pm yesterday (31 Friday 2025), Child Abuse Squad detectives, with assistance from officers attached to South Coast Police District, arrested a 25-year-old man at a home in Eden.
A search was conducted at the home where a number of electronic devices were seized.
The man was taken to Bega Police Station where he was charged with intentionally sexually touch child under 10 years (DV) (four counts), intentionally incite child younger than 10 years sexually touch them (DV) (two counts), intentionally carry out sexual act with child younger than 10 years (three counts), produce child abuse material, possess child abuse material, disseminate child abuse material, and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear at Batemans Bay Local Court today (Friday 31 January 2025).
Police will allege in court that the man and the child are known to each other.
