Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man after two firearms were located in Taylors Lakes last night.
Officers were first called to reports of a planned affray between multiple groups outside a shopping centre on Melton Highway about 5.20pm.
Upon attendance, police disrupted the planned affray and were also made aware of two men allegedly chasing an unknown person through the shopping centre a few minutes earlier.
Police began a patrol the area, and the gathered groups dispersed without incident.
While continuing their patrol, officers located and searched two men.
One of the men was cleared to leave the scene, while officers located and seized a firearm from the second man.
Investigators searched the second man's vehicle and located another firearm, along with ammunition.
The 22-year-old male from Taylors Hill was arrested at the scene and has since been charged with prohibited person possess firearm(s).
He was remanded to face Sunshine Magistrates' Court on 28 February.
