Man Charged Following 50kg Cannabis Seizure in Murrumbidgee

A man has been charged, after cannabis leaf was allegedly seized during a road stop in the State's south.

About 8am on Saturday (15 June 2024), Riverina Traffic and Highway were patrolling the Sturt Highway at Euroley, approximately 33km, north-east of Narrandera, when they pulled over the driver of a light rigid pantech for a random breath test.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly seized five boxes containing 106 cryovac bags containing approximately 500 grams of cannabis leaf each – weighing close to 55kg in total.

The 28-year-old male driver was arrested and taken to Griffith Police Station.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug >= commercial quantity and possess a prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Wagga Wagga Local Court today (Monday 17 June 2024).
