A man has been charged with multiple offences following a search warrant at a Mid North Coast property yesterday.
In recent weeks, police commenced an investigation following several break and enters at a Wauchope tobacconist.
Following extensive inquiries, officers from Mid North Coast PD, assisted by PolAir and the Dog Unit, executed a search warrant at a property on Bain Street, Wauchope, about 2pm yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2024).
At the scene, police arrested a 37-year-old man who allegedly attempted to flee upon police arrival.
Police will allege in court that the man was involved in a pursuit with police in Wauchope on Tuesday 9 January 2024, where a police vehicle was deliberately rammed.
A subsequent search of the property allegedly revealed proceeds from the tobacconist, an amount of methamphetamine and cannabis, mobile phones, a stolen number plate, and tools believed to have been stolen.
The man was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences:
- Two counts of larceny
- Two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal
- Aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company intent steal
- Break and enter house etc steal
- Police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously
- Use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention
- Drive motor vehicle while licence suspended
- Use unregistered registrable Class A motor vehicle on road
- Hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty
He was refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court today (Thursday 11 January 2024).
