Man Charged for False Police Report in Bathurst

A man has been charged with assault and making a false report to police in the state's central west.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District commenced an investigation following reports of an alleged assault on a 20-year-old man in William Street, Bathurst.

Police were told the man was assaulted by three other men about 4.15am on Monday 14 October 2024.

NSW Ambulance paramedics were called to the scene and took the man and a woman to Bathurst Hospital.

They were discharged and travelled interstate.

Following police inquiries, yesterday (Thursday 17 October 2024) the man was served a future court attendance notice for common assault (DV) and false representation resulting in police investigation.

He will appear in Bathurst Local Court on Wednesday 11 December 2024.

Police will allege in court the man assaulted a woman known to him, and was not assaulted himself but made a false report to police.
