Man Charged for Hotel Damage in Waverley

A man will face Court next month after allegedly letting off the contents of a fire extinguisher inside a licensed premises in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs last week.

About 8.30pm on Friday 13 September 2024, officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command were called to a hotel on Bronte Road, Waverley, following reports a man had allegedly sprayed the contents of a fire extinguisher inside the business.

Police arrived to find the man had already left the scene.

The hotel was evacuated; there was no injuries reported.

Police commenced inquiries into the circumstances around the incident.

Following inquiries, on Wednesday 18 September 2024, police arrested a 22-year-old man at Waverley Police Station.

He was charged with malicious damage.

The man was granted conditional bail to attend Waverley Local Court on Thursday 17 October 2024.
