Man Charged for Illegal Tobacco Supply in Tuggerah Lakes

A man has been arrested and charged for allegedly supplying illegal tobacco and e-cigarettes on the state's Central Coast.

About 9pm yesterday (Friday 16 August 2024), officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were patrolling on Wyong Road, Tuggerah, when they stopped a white Hyundai SUV for the purpose of a random breath test.

Initial checks revealed the driver – a 25-year-old man – was known to the police for alleged illegal tobacco and vape supply in the region.

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized an amount of cash, mobile phones, two knives and a number of knuckle dusters.

The man was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with recklessly deal proceeds of general crime $100,000 or more, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit and custody of knife in public place.

He was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today (17 August 2024).
