A man has been charged with his alleged involvement in the malicious damage of vehicles and buildings in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs last year.
About 1am on Wednesday 11 December 2024, emergency services responded to reports of a vehicle on fire in Magney Street, Woollahra.
Fire & Rescue NSW extinguished the fire; however, the vehicle was destroyed.
This vehicle and a second vehicle, along with two buildings and the footpath along Magney Street were also allegedly graffitied. At this time, the total estimated value of the damage is about $20,000.
Officers attached to Eastern Suburbs Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Holony.
Following inquiries, Strike Force Pearl detectives arrested a 34-year-old woman at a home in Liverpool about 8.30am on Monday 20 January 2025. She remains before the court.
Following further inquiries, a 36-year-old man was arrested at Parklea Correctional Centre on Tuesday 18 February 2025.
He was charged with participate criminal group contribute criminal activity; destroy or damage property accessory before the fact to an offence; and take and drive conveyance without consent of owner.
The man was refused bail to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Monday 3 April 2025.
A total of 13 people have now been charged under Strike Force Pearl,
Four men – aged 31, 37, 40 and 26 – have been charged following fires at two businesses in Bondi in October 2024,
Three men – aged 20, 19 and 21 – have been charged after 10 vehicles and buildings were allegedly deliberately damaged in Woollahra in November 2024,
A 34-year-old woman and 36-year-old man has been charged after vehicles and buildings were allegedly deliberately damaged in Woollahra in December 2024, and now,
Two men – aged 33 and 37 – have been charged after a building in Newtown was allegedly graffitied and attempted to be set alight.
A 37-year-old man has been charged after a wall at Kingsford was allegedly damaged with offensive graffiti.
A 21-year-old man has now been charged after the alleged intimidation of a woman at Bondi.
