Man Charged for Online Religious Threats in E. Beaches

A man has been charged with threatening violence based on religion after he allegedly posted an offensive comment online.

Today (Wednesday 18 December 2024), officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command commenced an investigation after receiving a report of an alleged threat of violence.

Following inquiries, police attended a home in Cambridge Street, Harris Park, about 3pm today, where they arrested a 48-year-old man.

He was taken to Granville Police Station where he has been charged with publicly threaten violence on grounds of religion, and use carriage service to menace/harass/offend.

The man was released on conditional bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on 15 February 2025.

Police will allege in court the man posted a threatening and offensive comment on a social media platform directed towards an aged-care facility in Randwick.
