Man Charged for Rock Attack on Police Car in Sydney CBD

A man will face court today charged with allegedly throwing a rock at a police car and spitting on an officer in the Sydney CBD yesterday.

About 7pm (Sunday 1 December 2024), an occupied fully marked police car was parked on George Street, Sydney, when a rock was thrown at the vehicle by an unknown person.

Following inquiries, officers attached Sydney City Police Area Command arrested a 40-year-old man at a nearby shopping centre.

During the arrest the man allegedly attempted to spit on an officer before being taken to Day Street Police Station.

He was charged with intentionally throw object at vehicle/vessel risk safety, assault police officer in execution of duty without actual bodily harm and goods in personal custody suspected of being stolen.

The 40-year-old man was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday 2 December 2024).
