Man Charged for Starting Mount Pritchard Unit Fire

A man has been charged after he allegedly set fire to a unit in Sydney's south west.

About 4:30am today (Wednesday 12 February 2025), emergency services were called to Drysdale Road, Mount Pritchard, following reports of a fire.

On arrival, officers attached to Fairfield City Police Command found a unit engulfed in fire.

With the assistance of Fire and Rescue NSW, neighbouring units were evacuated. The fire was extinguished a short time later.

Two police officers were treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital for assessment.

A 34-year-old man was arrested nearby and taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with damage property by fire/explosion.

The man was refused bail and appeared before Fairfield Local Court today.
