Missing Persons Squad detectives have today charged a man as part of their investigation into the 2006 disappearance of Christopher Jarvis.
A 72-year-old Wangoom man was arrested earlier today and has subsequently been charged with murder.
He will face Warrnambool Magistrates' Court this afternoon.
A 61-year-old man was also charged in 2022 in relation to the incident and was sentenced earlier this month after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Today's arrest follows Christopher's disappearance in June of 2006.
The 38-year-old was last seen when he left the house he shared with his partner and stepchildren on Warrne Road in Wangoom at around 6am on Tuesday, 13 June.
When he didn't arrive at work, staff contacted Christopher's partner about 7.30am.
About half an hour later, his car was located on fire at Thunder Point, a popular coastal lookout in Warrnambool.
The investigation was originally handled by local police as a missing person case, with initial enquiries suggesting Christopher's disappearance was not suspicious.
However the investigation was subsequently reinvigorated with the provision of new information from the public to the Missing Persons Squad, and Christopher's disappearance was determined to be suspicious.
Despite significant searches over the past 19 years, Christopher's remains are yet to be located.
Anyone with further information regarding Chris' disappearance or the location of his body is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 300 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
