Man Charged in Brunswick Heads Damage Case

A man has been charged over an alleged malicious damage incident which saw several parking meters damaged over the weekend.

Between 9.30pm on Saturday (19 October 2024) and 7.50am on (Sunday 20 October 2024), approximately 40 parking meters were damaged at Brunswick Heads.

Police attached to Tweed/Byron Police District were subsequently notified and commenced inquiries into the incident.

About 12.30pm yesterday (Sunday 20 October 2024), a 37-year-old man was arrested on South Beach Road, Brunswick Heads.

He was taken to Byron Bay Police Station where he was charged with destroy or damage property value greater than $15000.

He was refused bail to appear before Byron Bay Local Court today (Monday 21 October 2024).
