Man Charged in Eastlakes Murder: Strike Force Brede

Police have charged a man following a fatal stabbing in south Sydney earlier this week.

About 12.20pm on Monday 27 January 2025, a man was found with a wound to his neck on a footpath on Maloney Street, Eastlakes.

NSW Ambulance paramedics assisted the man; however, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to South Sydney Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the man's death, under Strike Force Brede.

The man has since been identified as a 47-year-old from Maroubra.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a 33-year-old man about 11.30am today (31 January 2025) at Surry Hills Police Station and charged him with one count of murder (DV) and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).

He was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow (1 February 2025).
