Man Charged in Fatal Casula Hit-and-Run

A man has been charged with driving away from a fatal crash in Sydney's south west yesterday.

About 3.45pm (Wednesday 19 March 2025), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway, Casula, following reports of a crash.

Officers attached to Liverpool City Police Area Command attended and found a motorbike had been hit by a van before it allegedly left the scene.

The motorbike rider – a 26-year-old man – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics, but could not be revived and died at the scene.

Police established a crime scene and commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with assistance from officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.

Following inquiries, the driver of the van – a 32-year-old man – returned to the scene of the crash and was taken to Liverpool Hospital for mandatory testing.

The 32-year-old man was then taken to Liverpool Police Station where he was charged with negligent driving occasioning death and fail to stop and render assistance after impact causing death.

He was granted conditional bail to appear before Liverpool Local Court on Wednesday 16 April 2025.
