Man Charged in Griffith Drug and Cigarette Bust

A man has been charged with commercial drug supply in the State's south.

Strike Force Kilnyana was established to investigate the alleged theft of 15 firearms from a property on Vance Road, Leeton.

Following inquiries, about 12.40pm on Tuesday ( 6 August 2024) detectives attached to Murrumbidgee Police District conducted a firearms prohibition order on a home in Holmes crescent, Griffith.

Officers arrested a 53-year-old man. He was conveyed to Griffith Hospital for monitoring.

Following inquiries, around 3.15pm, detectives executed a search warrant at the same address.

Police located and seized a large sum of cash, along with MDMA, methylamphetamine, cannabis, drug paraphernalia and seven cartons of illegal cigarettes.

The man was released from hospital and taken to Griffith police station. He was charged with eight offences, two counts of hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, supply prohibited drug >= commercial quantity, two counts of supply prohibited drug >indictable & small & $5000.

He was refused bail to appear before Griffith Local Court on Thursday 26 September 2024.
