Man Charged in Lithgow Murder: Strike Force Shrewsbury

A man has been charged over the alleged murder of an inmate in a correctional facility in Lithgow two months ago.

Emergency services were called to the facility about 2:45pm on Wednesday 25 September 2024, after a man was found critically injured.

The 31-year-old man was treated by staff and NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to Chifley Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation under Strike Force Shrewsbury, assisted by the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad.

Following inquiries, detectives travelled to a Goulburn correctional facility today (Wednesday 27 November 2024) and arrested a 22-year-old man. That man has now been charged with murder.

He has been refused bail to appear before Goulburn Local Court today (Wednesday 27 November 2024).
