A man has been charged over an alleged multi-million-dollar fraud in Sydney's inner west.
In December 2024, officers attached to Burwood Police Area Command commenced an investigation under Strike Force Liskeard following reports a man had allegedly defrauded several people out of millions of dollars, under the guise they were providing him with financial assistance.
Following extensive inquiries, today (Thursday 3 April 2025) detectives executed a search warrant at a unit on East Street, where a 68-year-old man was arrested.
He was taken to Burwood Police Station, where he was charged with three counts of dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.
He was refused bail to appear before Burwood Local Court on today (Thursday 3 April 2025).
Police will allege in court the man defrauded people known to him out of about $1.3 million over a period of eight years.
