Man Charged in Northern Beaches Firearm Offence

A man has been charged following reports a male discharging a firearm on Sydney's Northern Beaches earlier this week.

About 8.30pm (Tuesday 21 January 2025), officers attached to Northern Beaches Police Area Command attended Pitt Road at North Curl Curl, after a woman reported finding what appeared to be a bullet hole in her garage door.

Police inspected the premises and allegedly found evidence of further shots being fired through a wooden fence and a bullet graze to an external wall of the house.

Following inquiries, police spoke with a neighbour and executed a crime scene warrant on the premises.

During the warrant, police allegedly located a .22 calibre pistol, a muzzle loaded double barrel rifle and a box of ammunition.

Police have issued an 88-year-old man with a Court Attendance Notice for five offences – fire firearm in a manner likely to injure persons/property, two counts of possess unauthorised firearm and two counts of not keep firearm safely.

Police will allege in Court the man was not licensed to possess the firearms or ammunition.

The man is expected to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 5 March 2025.
