A man will face court today charged after allegedly attempting to steal a NSW SES boat near Lismore overnight.
About 9.20pm yesterday (Tuesday 4 March 2025), police were called to a carpark on the Bruxner Highway, Goonellabah.
Police were told that man allegedly attempted to detach the hitch and safety chains between a boat trailer and NSW SES vehicle, before members of the public intervened and the man left the scene in his vehicle.
As police were searching, they were called to Dibbs Street, Lismore, where man's vehicle had been located.
Police stopped and spoke with a 43-year-old man when they found a camper trailer nearby, which police will allege the man also attempted to steal.
The 43-year-old man allegedly refused to undergo a roadside breath test, and he was arrested and taken to Lismore Police Station.
There he underwent a breath analysis that returned an alleged reading of 0.152.

He was charged with two counts of attempt steal vessel, drive with high-range PCA, and drive motor vehicle while licence suspended.
He was refused bail to appear before Lismore Local Court today (Wednesday 5 March 2025).
