Man Charged in Sydney Attempted Sexual Assault

A man has been charged after allegedly attempting to sexually assault a woman in Sydney's CBD.

About 11:50pm on Tuesday (22 October 2024), officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command were told a told a man attempted to sexually assault a 31-year-old woman while she was walking on St Mary's Road, Sydney.

Following inquiries, detectives arrested a 47-year-old man at Surry Hills Police Station.

He was charged with take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage, stalk/Intimidate with intent to cause physical harm, and attempted sexual intercourse without consent.

The man was also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for breaching a community corrections order.

He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today, Thursday 24 October 2024.
