Man Charged in Tumut for Firearm, Property Offences

A man has been charged for alleged firearm and property offences in the state's south.

Between 5pm on Saturday 14 September 2024 and 7am on Sunday 15 September 2024, a property on Simpson Street, Tumut was broken into, with a number of items stolen.

Police will allege among the property stolen was a firearm safe, which contained five registered firearms.

Officers from the Riverina Police District commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, on Friday 20 September 2024, police arrested a 29-year-old man in Banksia Crescent, Tumut.

The man was taken to Tumut Police Station and charged with 11 offences including break enter and steal, firearm-related offences, possess prohibited drug and traffic offences.

All the of the stolen firearms have been recovered by police.

The man was refused bail and appeared at Wagga Wagga Local Court on Saturday 21 September 2024, where he was formally refused bail and will appear before Tumut Local Court on Wednesday 16 October 2024
