Man charged; inquiries continue into public place shootings - South Granville

A man has been charged following investigations into a shooting at South Granville overnight.

Just after 7.30pm (Tuesday 29 December 2020), police were called to a home on Aubrey Street, following reports numerous shots had been fired at the home.

Officers from Cumberland Police Area Command attended and located damage to the home. No one was injured.

A crime scene was established and during a canvass of the area, multiple cartridges were located and seized.

Witnesses told police a blue Audi sedan was seen driving away from the home. That vehicle was later located burnt out in John Street at Granville and seized for forensic examination.

A short time later, police arrested a 27-year-old man after his Mitsubishi Pajero was involved in a crash in Guildford.

The man was taken to Granville Police Station where he was charged with shoot with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (accessory after the fact), common assault, and traffic offences.

He was bail refused to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 30 December 2020).

Police will allege the Mitsubishi was also used in the South Granville shooting.

Following further inquiries, police believe the incident is linked to a public place shooting on Kirk Street at South Granville on Thursday 24 December, and another one at the same location just before 10pm yesterday (29 December 2020).

Inquiries are continuing.
