Man Charged Over Illawarra Child Abuse Material

A man will appear in court today charged with allegedly possessing child abuse material.

About 7.30am on Tuesday 16 July 2024, officers attached to Lake Illawarra Police District executed a search warrant at a home in Horsley.

During the search, detectives located several electronic storage devices including a mobile phone and laptop which were seized for forensic examination.

Following an investigation, shortly before 8.30am yesterday (Tuesday 13 August 2024), police arrested a 37-year-old man in Oak Flats.

He was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with two counts of possess child abuse material.

The man was refused bail to appear at Wollongong Local Court today (Wednesday 14 August 2024).

Police will allege in court the man was in possession of images of child abuse material.
