Illicit Firearms Squad detectives have charged a man after firearms, ammunition, parts and plans were uncovered during a search warrant in Hoppers Crossing on Thursday.
Detectives raided a residence in O'Neill Avenue as part of an investigation into the manufacturing of illicit firearms on 12 December.
Police seized two imitation firearms, an inoperable home-made firearm, a quantity of ammunition, various homemade firearm parts as well as schematics and plans for privately made firearms.
A 43-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was arrested at the scene and has subsequently been charged with manufacturing firearm without a licence, possess parts to manufacture firearms, possess cartridge ammunition, prohibited person possess firearm and two counts of prohibited person possess imitation firearm.
He has been bailed to face Werribee Magistrates' Court on 29 April.
