A man will face court today charged over multiple alleged pursuits in the state's western region.
Just after 7.20am yesterday (Wednesday 10 January 2024), officers attached to Orange Traffic and Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Holden Commodore near Molong on the Mitchell Highway following a pursuit in Orange earlier.
The car continued to Geurie when it turned around and headed back towards Wellington where – police will allege in court –he drove at a police vehicle travelling in the opposite direction.
Police successfully deployed road spikes on the Mitchell Highway near Old Sydney Road; however, the man continued to Dripstone Road, Wellington, where he allegedly demanded fuel and a car but left empty-handed.
About 9am, officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended a service station on Lee Street, Wellington, where he was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.
The 33-year-old man has been charged with three counts of police pursuit - not stop - drive recklessly, two counts of drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, drive motor vehicle menaces another with intent, attempt to take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, larceny, two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (DV), attempt stalk/intimidate intend fear of harm (personal), and hinder or resist police officer in execution of duty.
The man was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court today (Thursday 11 January 2024).
