Man Charged Over New Town Offences

Police have today arrested and charged a 61-year-old man with several offences allegedly committed in the New Town area.

Police allege the man was involved in several incidents in the New Town area recently, where he committed assaults and threatening behaviours towards women.

The man has been charged with:

  • 2x assault
  • 3x threatening words to provoke a breach of the peace in a public place.

He appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon and was remanded until 11 May 2026.
