A man will appear in court today charged following an investigation into an alleged sexual assault at an aged care home in Sydney's northwest.
Yesterday (Friday 12 January 2024), police were called to an aged-care home in Galston following reports an 87-year-old woman had been sexually assaulted.
Police were told a man, who is known to visit the facility, had allegedly entered the woman's room, on two occasions before sexually assaulting her.
NSW Ambulance paramedics treated the woman who was taken to Royal North Shore Hospital however did not suffer any serious physical injuries.
A crime scene was established as detectives attached to Kuring-Gai Police Area Command commenced an investigation
Following inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home in Asquith about 7.40pm yesterday (Friday 12 January 2024) and arrested an 80-year-old man.
He was taken to Hornsby Police Station where he was charged with aggravated sex assault – victim with cognitive impairment, aggravated – sexually touch another person and fail to comply with direction storage of firearm.
The man was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Saturday 13 January 2024).
