A man has been charged with attempt murder after a domestic incident at Wingfield on Saturday.
About 12.30 pm, Saturday 28 September police were called to a Fourth Street home after reports of a domestic disturbance.
When patrols arrived they found an 85-year-old woman who had been assaulted. She was taken to hospital for treatment of serious injuries where she remains in a stable condition.
The incident is not considered random and those involved are known to each other.
An 88-year-old man was arrested at the scene without incident and following investigations has been charged with attempt murder. The man remains in hospital for medical treatment. A court date is yet to be determined.
