Man Charged With Break-Ins, Fraud in Greystanes

A man is due in court today charged over multiple alleged break and enters and fraud offences across Sydney earlier this month.

On Wednesday 13 November 2024, officers attached to Strike Force Sweetenham commenced an investigation following break-ins and thefts at homes across the Sydney metropolitan area.

About 2am on Thursday 7 November 2024, police attended a home on Langford Road, Dural, after it was allegedly broken into, and a Mercedes sedan stolen.

Police will allege a short time later the vehicle was seen near a home broken into on Gooraway Street, Castle Hill.

About 4:50am on Saturday 9 November 2024, police investigated an attempted break and enter at a Tobacconist, on Rooty Hill Road South, Rooty Hill.

About 8am on Monday 11 November 2024, police investigated an alleged break and enter on a home in Henricks Avenue, Newington. A Toyota Corolla was allegedly stolen from the location, and was identified as the vehicle involved in an alleged fail-to-pay incident at a service station in Constitution Hill.

About 8am on Tuesday 12 November 2024, an Audi was allegedly stolen from a home on Palmerston Avenue, Vaucluse. Police will allege credit cards were also used for a number of fraudulent purchases.

A short time later, police investigated an attempted break and enter on a home in Begovich Crescent, Abbotsbury.

About 3am on Friday 15 November 2024, police investigated an alleged break and enter on a home on Jacobson Avenue, Kyeemagh, where an Audi was allegedly stolen. The vehicle was located later that day at a Greystanes shopping centre carpark.

About 3:56am on Wednesday 20 November 2024, officers attached to The Hills Local Area Command attempted to stop a Ford Ranger on Derriwong Road, Dural.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated. During the pursuit, police will allege the driver of the car reversed into the front of a police vehicle.

Following inquiries, about 6.30am yesterday (Wednesday 20 November 2024), officers attached to Kuring-Gai Police Area Command executed a search warrant at a home on Cumberland Road, Greystanes, and arrested a 20-year-old man.

A search of the property allegedly located clothing, car keys and an amount of drugs – all of which were seized for further examination.

The man was taken to Granville Police Station and charged with 24 offences,

  • Aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence (seven offences)
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner (five counts)
  • Dishonestly obtain property by deception (five counts)
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (four counts)
  • Steal motor vehicle
  • Enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, and
  • Fail to comply digital evidence access order direction.

He was refused bail to appear before Parramatta Local Court today (Thursday 21 November 2024).
