Man Charged With Child Sex Offences in Liverpool

Sex Crimes Squad detectives have charged a man with alleged child sex offences under Strike Force Trawler.

Strike Force Trawler is an ongoing investigation by Sex Crimes Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit (CEIU) into the sexual abuse and exploitation of children facilitated through the internet and related telecommunications devices.

In December 2024, strike force detectives commenced an investigation into the online activities of a man in Sydney's west.

About 11.25am yesterday (Wednesday 15 January 2025), police arrested a 55-year-old man in Liverpool.

During a search of the man's vehicle, police located and seized sexual paraphernalia.

A subsequent search warrant was then conducted at a home in St Marys, where police located and seized USBs , 90 grams of cannabis and $40,000 in cash.

The man was taken to Liverpool Police Station, where he was charged with use carriage service-procure <16 years for sexual activity.

He was refused bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court today (Thursday 16 January 2025).

Police will allege in court the man was attempting to meet a young girl for sexual acts, which he had agreed to pay her $200.

Investigations under Strike Force Trawler continue.
