Man Charged With Domestic Violence in Tamworth

A man will face court charged with domestic violence offences following an alleged incident in the state's north-east.

About 8:10pm on Monday (5 August 2024), police attended a home at South Tamworth following reports a man had allegedly breach of an apprehended domestic violence order.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended the property and spoke with a 52-year-old man.

When police attempted to gain entry to the home to arrest the man, he allegedly threatened officers.

About 8:42pm the man presented himself to police and was arrested. No one was injured in the incident.

During a search of the property police located and seized a knife for forensic examination.

The 52-year-old was taken to Tamworth Police Station and charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in apprehended violence order, stalk/intimidate intend fear physical harm, destroy or damage property (DV), hinder or resist police officer in the execution of duty, use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention and intimidate police officer in execution of duty without aggravated bodily harm.

He was refused bail to appear in Tamworth Local Court today (Tuesday 6 August 2024).
