Man Charged with Drug, Driving Offences on Central Coast

A man has been charged over alleged drug and driving offences on the Central Coast.

About 11.10am yesterday (Tuesday 10 December 2024), police attempted to stop a vehicle on Showground Road, Gosford.

When the vehicle allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated.

A short time later, the vehicle crashed into a semi-trailer on the Mooney Mooney Bridge. The truck driver was not injured.

During a search of the driver and the vehicle, police allegedly located and seized a number of suboxone strips, approximately 1g of heroin, and a prohibited weapon.

The 33-year-old man was arrested and taken to Gosford Hospital for mandatory testing and the treatment of minor injuries.

He was later taken to Gosford Police Station where he was charged with two counts of possess prohibited drug, police pursuit - not stop - drive dangerously, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, supply prohibited drug, possess or use a prohibited weapon without permit, use prohibited weapon contrary to prohibition order, and deal with property proceeds of crime.

He was refused bail to appear before Gosford Local Court today (Wednesday 11 December 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Thursday 16 January 2025.
