Man Charged With Drug, Firearm Offences in Inverell

A man has been charged with a number of drug and firearm offences in the State's north west.

About 7:15pm yesterday, Wednesday 4 September 2024, police attached to New England Police District observed a man on Otho Street Inverell, waving what appeared to be a black coloured revolver.

Officers secured the Police Station and called for assistance.

The 52-year-old man was arrested a short time later and taken to Inverell Police Station. A search of his bag allegedly located a black gel-blaster and a bag containing a prohibited drug.

He was charged with possession of weapon to resist arrest, possess unauthorised firearm in public place, intimidate police officer and possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail to appear before Inverell Local Court on Thursday 5 September 2024
