Man Charged With Drug, Firearm Offences in Coonamble

A man has been charged with drug and firearm offences in the state's west.

About 7:15pm on Saturday (28 December 2024) police attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District and Operational Support Group operatives from Central North Police District executed a search warrant at a property in Ross Street, Coonamble.

Police allege a 19-year-old man, who is subject to a prohibition order, was in possession of a firearm.

Officers also located cannabis, ammunition and a flick style knife.

The man was arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Acquiring ammunition contrary to his firearms prohibition order,
  • Possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit/authority, and
  • Possess prohibited drug.

The man was refused bail and appeared via AVL before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday (29 December 2024). He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Coonamble Local Court on Tuesday 21 January 2025.
