Man Charged With Drug Trafficking Near Chapel Street

A man is facing almost thirty drugs and weapons offences after allegedly being caught dealing drugs near Chapel Street.

Police allege the man was dealing drugs of dependence in broad daylight, in close proximity to the entertainment precinct.

Following enquiries, detectives from the Prahran Divisional Response Unit executed a search warrant at an apartment on Fitzgerald Street, South Yarra, just before 7am on Wednesday 8 January.

There, police seized quantities of methylamphetamine, heroin and cannabis, as well as clear and white powders which will undergo forensic analysis.

Several types of prescription medications, including oxycodone, were seized.

Police also located weapons such as two knuckle dusters and an electronic stun device, as well as electronic devices, car keys and ten miscellaneous cards believed to have been stolen.

A 54-year-old man was arrested at the property.

The South Yarra man was charged with trafficking methylamphetamine, heroin and cannabis, as well as possessing methylamphetamine, cannabis and four counts of possess other drug of dependence.

He was also charged with three counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, four counts of possessing proceeds of crime, three counts of possessing a Schedule 4 poison, and ten counts of handling stolen goods.

He was granted bail to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 17 March.
