A man will face court after being allegedly found in possession of a firearm and a knife at a railway station in Sydney's southwest.
About 4.45pm yesterday (Thursday 30 October 2025), officers from Campbelltown Police Transport Command were conducting patrols of the concourse area at Macarthur railway station when they spoke with a 34-year-old man in relation to a ticketing offence.
While speaking with the man, police conducted a search of the man's backpack and allegedly located a single-shot improvised firearm, loaded with a .22 calibre bullet, along with a further 20 rounds of ammunition and a kitchen knife.
The man was arrested and taken to Campbelltown Police Station where he was charged with seven offences – possess unauthorised pistol, possess loaded firearm in a public place, acquire pistol subject to firearms prohibition order, acquire ammunition subject to prohibition order, possess ammunition without holding a licence or permit, custody of a knife in a public place and travel without valid ticket.
He was refused bail to appear before Campbelltown Local Court later today (Friday 31 October 2025).
