Man Charged With Firearm, Property Offenses in Albury

A man has been charged with firearm and property-related offences in the State's south.

About 3.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 17 September), police were called to Wattle Way, Albury, following reports a man was armed with a weapon.

The man allegedly fled from police over a fence in Fern Place, Albury.

During the search, police located a backpack which allegedly contained a homemade firearm, ammunition, implements allegedly used to break into homes. A number of items reported as stolen were also allegedly located.

A short time later, the 20-year-old man was arrested at a home in Jacaranda Street, Albury.

During a search of the man, police allegedly located and seized ammunition and a number of bank cards, which they will allege in court were stolen.

The man was taken to Albury Police Station and charged with possess unauthorised firearm, two counts of possess ammunition without holding licence/permit/authority, goods suspected stolen in/on premises, possess implements to enter/drive conveyance, enter enclosed land not prescribed premises without lawful excuse, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and an outstanding warrant.

He was refused bail to appear in Albury Local Court today (Wednesday 18 September 2024)
